Success Case
SPGO worked together with Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI) on the installation of the LIVE CONVEYOR system on the fully enclosed main Overland conveyor of the Ministro Hales Division.
Conveyor belt at Codelco's Ministro Hales Division

Success story:
One of the most notable aspects of this event was that thanks to technology, on April 14, 2026, an early rise in temperature was detected on a roller with a stuck bearing failure, before the condition progressed to a major failure or an unplanned corrective shutdown. By monitoring temperature and vibration in real time, the system spotted high temperatures, reaching values close to 80°C.
The system sent automatic alerts through the platform, email, and phone notifications, allowing the affected component to be identified and replaced in time.
Early detection allowed the maintenance team to act by timely identifying the exact location of the affected roller and scheduling its replacement. This made it possible to change the component without needing a plant shutdown, contributing to operational continuity, optimizing maintenance management, and strengthening operational safety.

We drive operational efficiency and profitability at Codelco
The installed technology for continuous real-time temperature and vibration monitoring strengthens operational safety on your conveyor belt. It allows you to anticipate critical situations before they turn into failures or incidents.
With more than 660 sensors, it provides visibility and analytics on the belt's condition, helping reduce on-site staff exposure and prevent unscheduled stoppages, where every hour of downtime can cost millions.
Live Conveyor allows early detection of anomalies and anticipation of events that could impact safety, the availability of critical assets, and operational continuity.
The project was led by Don Alberto Paredes Ramírez, Mine Planning Manager, enabling permanent visibility into the operational status of the conveyor belt.

Installation in a fully enclosed area, where direct visual inspection is limited.
